Kevin Wesley Love, a man once publicly shamed by LeBron James for his taste in shoes (bad blood perhaps?) is one of the most sought after “faces” by brand names in the NBA. This has been accredited widely by many to his familial connection to The Beach Boys, his uncle being Mike Edward Love ( the guy in the Brian Wilson biographical movie who seemed a wee bit hard on the musical genius).
Kevin’s success in the league has also been criticised, despite his winning streaks since his start with the Memphis Grizzlies where he accrued 12 points alongside nine rebounds. He has since then been traded twice; first to the Minnesota Timberwolves, before finding a home with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
His first shoe deal was with the Chinese company PEAK, whereby he debuted the Peak Player. It however, wasn’t as popular as he had anticipated.
Kevin Love then acquired a contract with another Chinese Sports company, 361 Degrees. It was here that he got his first signature shoe, the Cavs PE. The shoe was beautifully crafted with the team’s colors in mind, and Love’s name etched on the tongue.
Kevin is currently with Nike, and has been spotted playing in the Hyperdunk 2015 PE.
Will Kevin be awarded another signature shoe now that he is dealing with Nike? Probably. He does have the niche, and marketability, for it.
Till then, we shall just marvel at how great he is performing in his new kicks; the court will always be on fire with Kevin at the helm.
